Hey Sam, where on the shoulder bar to you plan on attaching the front hoop of the cage?

 

Yep, it's one of those half racks... it's pretty slick. We got the drag link and tie rod made last night, and it's going to be smooth!

Everything will be exposed, but we're still trying to figure out how to seal the back of the car up where the ladder bars poke out. We have a water tank that will go back there, so it needs to be sealed.

It attaches in line with the uprights so in the event of a roll over, it transfered the force down to the lower frame. The front hoop does not quite line up with the upright on the left hand side, so we may put a tube in there. On the left, it lines up perfectly. With the way I designed it, the force is actually divided by 3 on that front tube once it hits the shoulder bar and transfered to the frame in 3 spots.

I'd go 130 on a buck board... so in my ignorant mind, a lot of it is overkill.

But on the other hand, we want to p*** tech, and will want to go faster in the future, so we're enjoying making it as safe as possible.

Dude, I'm loving this project. Really nice work. I was just talking to my two sons about building a car for Bonneville. A project we could work on as a father and sons deal. Thanks for sharing.

I like all that I see. There is no such thing as overkill on safety. You can get real hurt goin fast, even if there is nothing to hit. Its going to be tight gettin down inside of that little body and keeping the cage small, good luck.
