Funny! How many times you have had the car to events and showed at shows over the past 25 to 30 years and one trip to Bonneville and everyone sees it for the first time.

Glad I found this thread, and us Aussies weren't the only ones going 'look at that car...'

All we knew about it when we were out the front of the Nugget, was that it was cool... :)

  3. Just wondering which picture you meant? Im sure you got me mixed up with the guy who posted that pic from early 50s but if not just let me know if I can help.

found another. The little dot between and to the left of the sun spots is the top of the electric antenna.
Man I love this car. What an honor to see it on the salt, where it had been driven too.

Hey guys, it was the Doug Rice Coupe, the BONNEVILLE BOOMER as it was called in the December 1954 issue of Hot Rod Magazine.

This is the car that both made me fall in love with '39-'40 Fords and want to go to the Salt when I read about it in 1957 (13 years old). I have had my '40 since 1972 and am finally channeling it (because of the Doug Rice Boomer). I will be at Bonneville in 2012 and hopefully be there with Don Richardson who now is the custodian of the Doug Rice '39.
