I have a car we road race I cannot seem to get any response from SCTA/BNI or a host of others as to what I would need to run. I ordered their rules book two months ago and still nothing. Can anybody help as I want to prepare the car and myself to be able to compete without any h***les at the gate, The car is a 95 Mazda mx6 ls 2.5L I am not a foreign car lover but this car ran three 18 hour road co**** races and won two and ended up second on the last race. you literally beat the car to death and it did absolutely NOTHING wrong. I want to hang it all out on the flats just need some professional guidance. it does have an approved roll cage for this sport. any help , guidance, contacts would be appreciated. send all to deanno@q.com Thanks, Dean
You ordered a rule book at the worse time, they were getting ready to RUN the races and just did not have time to mail out rule books. You will get one (rule book),you have year to get there now anyway. Heres an easy way to go,go to Maxton with the car, they can do a B-ville inspection and tell you everything you need to know. But hurry, only a few races left at Maxton.
He doesn't have to wait a year. As mentioned there is Maxton and 3 more meets @ El Mirage. Additionally, World of Speed is scheduled for Sept 14-17 and the World Finals are Oct 5-8 in Wendover / Bonneville. http://saltflats.com/ http://www.scta-bni.org/events.html
Dean, You're car may have been set-up and p***es to road race, but it may not meet SCTA guidelines for racing. Please do not ***ume that if you make the trip you will be allowed to run. I would suggest you find someone local who runs and talk to them and maay be look at their car as well as let them look at yours. Check out this social group. Maybe you can find someone and / or find someone with a book they would be willing to send you: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=101
Utah Salt Flats Racing ***ociation (USFRA) has a 130 & a 150 club. I think you can pretty much race anything that is street legal as long as you don't go over 130 mph. I think the meet starts on 9/15. http://saltflats.com/
If you and the car are in Grand Island, you are almost there! To run the 130 club, you must have H or better tires, with metal valve stem caps. You need a drive shaft loop for rear drive cars. You need a metal battery hold down, and a 2 1/2 pound fire extinguisher near the reach of the driver while he is belted in. You need a really good full face helmet. You can print out the entire rules page on the USFRA website. See you there!
Who did you try to contact? Certaintly not me. The basic cl*** you will run in is G/GT, new record is 165 MPH. You need a full cage, SFI -15 firesuit, 10 lbs of fire retardant and z rated tires. The body must be stock, no add ons such as aftermarket wings. There are more things involved. May I suggest you go on-line to www.landracing.com. Click LSR Forums at the top of the page. You will find salt racers with hundreds years of experience. Contact me at dwarner230@yahoo.com. The suggestion to attend the USFRA's World of Speed event, www.saltflats.com, next month is a good opportunity to see if you really want to do this. Some come once and others are hooked for life. DW
