Yeah Jeff me too, I've got my bros 89' notch stored away. Scott had pilfered a lot parts off it for 55' gasser build. I put the 89' back together last summer. I never did find the Vortech supercharger Scott had on it after Scott's unexpected passing! I always thought karma's a bitch! Still can't believe someone would walk away with it!
But anyhow, Jeff what is straight axle? Econoline?

    Hey Jim:)

It's gonna be a best 2 outta 3 match race, and I think yours is going to work a ton better than last year (last year you were still workin the bugs out),and who knows, maybe in the future you might end up dumping an FE in there or something?
You've got tons of room in that engine compartment, unlike me,who has to try to wedge 10 lbs of shit into a 5 lb bag!lol! :D

Hey Scott, FE would be nice but I think I'm going to stick with SBF! Maybe a 331 or if I could afford one a Dart SHP block & build a Big Bore 347...
As for my garage it's a 1 bay at girlfriends house. Just enough room to work on her. Cardboard on the cold floor & heat lamp... Jack the car up & pull her to one side to make room to work on right front end, then push to other side of garage to work on the left side! LOL! AHH DREAMING OF THAT NICE CALI WEATHER!!! Jim...

  10. Low of 60 tonight.., might have to wear long pants & possibly a sweat shirt out in the garage tonight. I do feel your pain with the garage though. Mine is a 3 car, but the wide side is full of stuff, so I work on the 56 on the 1 car side. The heat musta got to my brain on that one.

  16. Been there. Put a Liberty Doug Nash in 1st w/Billet Mark William Chrysler yoke. Then Change to a Richmond/Nash street 5 speed while the liberty is getting fixed. Find out the Richmond uses a turbo 400 out put spline, so buy another Mark Williams billet yoke. Then find out the drive shaft is too short for the Richmond, so a new longer drive shaft and put the MW yoke on that one. The Liberty Nash is the torsion bar version which the cross member was built for, but the Richmond is not, so I have to make a 2" trans mount spacer (aluminum of course). Then we put a Jerico in it, now the shorter of the two drive shafts is too long, so shorten it, and put the MW Turbo 400 yoke on it. WHEW! The drive shaft dude thinks I'm a pin head with a weird driveshaft lust problem!

RIC, yeah I think driveshaft guy is wondering what the heck I'm doing too!?!
I've got a tech question? I have a SBF M/T Crossram intake W/2 Holley's. My brother used the Jegs combo electric fuel pump/regulator on it. I was reading up on reg & it's not recommended you use it with 2 Holley's. As I let engine run I can watch the fuel pressure gage start at 6.5 & go down to 2psi after running 20-25 Min. It has 3/8" fuel line so I'm thinking I may need larger feed line from fuel cell too... Possibly 1/2 or 5/8"??? Also can anyone recommend a Regulator you can run with 2 carbs? Think I'll start there first!
Whew! Thanks for any ideas! Jim...

  18. I run 6 carbs on this regulator :
    http://www.summitracing.com/parts/pfs-10663/overview/
The carbs are Holley 94s and don't like over about 3psi, but this company makes several different pressures. I have been through a bunch of regulators over the years trying to get enough flow for 6 carbs and still keep the pressure steady. You can run the output into a gallon jug to see what your GPH is to see if you have enough fuel to support the HP level. The pump I use on all my cars is a Carter electric pump, it puts out about 7psi unregulated.

  19. Sounds like you don't have enough pump to me. I'm assuming the Jegs is pump is a private label Holley, or Carter type, or worse yet a Chinese crappy attempt of a clone. A single Holley blue would just about be enough, or say a Mallory 140, Edelbrock 160. In the early days of Pro Stock, they used 2 Holley Blues (one for each carb) and 2 blue regulators, (one for each carb). The regulators have two outlet, so they used one outlet for each bowl. If your carbs are Holley 4160's (side hung floats) or Carter/Edelbrock AFB's, 4-5psi is all the float/needle & seat will handle. If they are 4150 Holleys (center hung floats) you can go 6-9 psi, depending on the float & need/seat. Constant volume, is better than high pressure. The 3/8 line (same size as -6) should actually work. I wouldn't go any bigger than 1/2" (-8) for what your doing, or a future 360-70" engine. With a rear mount fuel cell, and the pump pushing, the fuel weight from a bigger dia. Fuel line, will only make the pump work harder. If your using a front mount Moon tank, keep it topped off! The fuel slosh in those bad, and the pickup can go sporadically dry. I would put some anti slosh foam in a Moon tank up front. Not to kick you in the jewels, but while we are on the subject, your giving up 30-40HP & as much torque with that cross ram over a Weiand tunnel ram, and you can't fix that cross ram.., just saying.

PS. Are you carbs facing forward, or each other?

RIC, their Holley 4160's & face forward... I new the CFM of carbs, think their 450-500??? I've gotta check carb numbers again... I don't have a problem with you clueing me in on the Cross Ram! Would of never thought I'm giving up 30-40hp! The only problem taking it off is Scott(pwrshftr) will be on me like a hobo on a hotdog for the intake! LOL!!! Jim...

RIC fuel pump is a JEGS 130GPH & I believe your correct its made by Holley. With a Jegs regulator. I need to redo the fuel line from frame by RT front tire to regulator. Prob get rid of 2-3 90 degree bends, think that might help too... Jim

RIC, thanks so much for the info! I'm going to run the fuel pressure down to 4.5psi, see how it responds... Jim

  23. If Scott gives any guff about ditching the the "Clog Cram" tell him you'll trade him for that tunnel ram of his that he spoons every night. If you run those air cleaners at the track, they aren't helping either.., they're more like Ram Clog reversion deflectors . Each 90' bend, is the equivalent restriction to 6" of straight line. As far as the 130 gph pump. Time it to see how much fuel it pumps into a fuel jug/can, without the regulator)in one minute.., should be 2.17 gallons.

  24. Make sure your pump is mounted lower than the fuel tank.

I have the one on the left.

The one on the right is the guy I need.

BIG ports with room to grow for lots of flow with some well prepped heads.

I have talked to two HAMBers who have those intakes, one who is using his on a NASTY 289 for a B/FX Comet, and one who won't part with his beachside he is sentimental about it.He has never had it on an engine, but apparently the guy who have him the intake is no longer with us,and he can't bring himself to part with it.

If anybody knows where there's one of these intakes, please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Scott
