I am collecting parts for a 348 4 speed conversion for my 58 Chebby, and I got a cast iron case B/W 4 speed trans. I had a trans guy look at it yesterday, and he said it was a super t-10. Then he noticed that the speedo cable outlet was plugged, with what looks like a small freeze plug. It looks totally stock. Could it be from a late model car with speedo ran off the rear axle or something? ...or is it a super rare speedo delete option only sold on factory lightweights, worth a gazillion dollars on eBay ??
That's a race car trick when no speedo is required. You can take the plug out and install the gears as usual. You could also consider an electric sender using a flying magnet on the slip yoke if you can find one. It's been a while since I heard of any being offered.
Olds did. The trans is undoubtably from an Olds. The freeze plug should come out, and you will be able to retrofit all the speedo stuff and be fine. Cosmo
