I have seen this electric OD trans advertised and was wondering if anyone had any insight as to what it is. I believe this one is too early to be a Ford, (always seen side shifters only), and may have been used in a Lasalle, Caddy or Studebaker. Borg-Warner R11-1G. Whatcha know?

Looks to me like it might fit a Packard, and there were adapters made to fit Packard transmissions to other cars.

but that's just a slightly educated guess.

No doubt could be Packard as well. Forgot that one. Was wondering if anyone had any experience with one. I've never actually owned one. It would be in back of a 327/ 350HP. I'm pretty sure it would hold but I've said that about Muncies already. They are easier to get parts for though. Sure would look cool through the floor!

There is a lot of experience here with the BW overdrive part of it...they work well if you include all the bells and whistles from the original control system, but can be made to work with just the solenoid and a switch, if you're careful. The R11 is quite a bit stronger than the R10. The transmission itself...might or might not be something you'd want to try behind an engine like that. I'd look for something else, I think. Maybe a 1970s Super T-10.
