Borgeson U joint problem

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by tommorookian, May 31, 2013.

  1. I thought their joints had roller bearings and would not develope lash. I have 5K miles on my 36 Ford and one of the joints has a lot of lash between the yokes. Is this unusual? Should I try for a warrantee issue?

    It's a 3/4 DD joint.

Does not sound normal, but two questions: Is it one of their needle bearing street joints, or an off-road pin and block joint? Is the working angle of the joint within their published range?

I've only used Porsche 914 steering u-joints on my builds. They happen to work with 3/4" 36 spline shafts. IMO better than after market because they have pinch bolts and not set screws. I've heard many opinions from builders that have had Borgeson parts failures. Steering and brakes are too important to use questionable parts.
