I finally can do a thread like this :)
I made the deal about a month ago with a fellow HAMBER and this weekend, I did the 600 mile round trip to Lander WYO. to pick it up.
1932 Nash "second series". Originally a 6 cyl. car. Pretty rare and pretty decent shape for a 80 year old car, some of you guys save allot worse. And decently complete as well.
Being a big AMC/Nash guy this is a HUGE score for me! I am not allowing myself to touch it untill a o/t car is finished, but I will start planning and collecting parts now.
I want to go pretty traditional with it.
I am thinking a ford front end. Flathead V8 or maybe an AMC drivetrain, just cause I am a AMC guy. Not sold on which way though, got time to figure it out. No chop. Not too low on the body. And for sure not no RR pos!!!!
Once I get closer to starting on it, a build thread will be started. I am very excited!! I have built allot of Gremlins and a few other cars, but this will be my first HOT ROD.
I will let the pics do the talking.....
How it made it's 300 mile drive.

On to the frame. I have read that 32 second series was the first year Nash used the beefy X-member frame. The 10-bolt is obviously not original.

And now the parts... Front fenders, rear fenders, one hood side, a complete hood (don't think it's Nash), running boards a few grill shells, not all Nash as well. And some odds and ends that I need to figure out what they are.

    Put a 401 in it. Maybe a 390.
I started to trade a 65 Chevelle conv. for a 32 Nash 4 dr sedan in aug. at the street rod nationals. The guy couldn't come up with 2 thou. difference tho, damn near traded anyway.
    Nice looking coupe.

I am sure that is the first 32 Nash I have seen, looks like a nice body. I see you are not afraid of the the different cars, I see the Gremlin lurking in the garage. Really cool man, good luck with a build, that frame looks x-member strong. ~sololobo~

looking forward to the build thread. awesome hot rod start!

  18. finally a good looking 32 to build, as opposed to a popular 32.
Nash 32's were better looking and better built than 32 Fords. And they required a little more cash to get your ass in the seat when they were new too. Don't fuck this up by trying to make it look like a 32 ford build up of any kind. Keep the parallel front suspension, drop a 401/torqueflite in the frame, and by all means, run it full fendered. Back in the day they were a class act, something ford was striving for at the time, but ol' Henry decided to cheap out instead.

Yes, that build has to be close to 30 years old, wonder if it ever comes out to events. I always remember the Lincoln wheels with Ford truck brakes. :)

  24. Yeah Larry's is from the early '70's - and yes he drives it, here it is last week on the New Year's Day Cruise...

Would look bitchin on deuce rails and chopped!

  26. These are large cars, you can get an idea here with Larry's Nash next to a deuce roadster. This pic is from a 2010 gathering at Source Interlink's new office in El Segundo...

  27. Another size comparison...

I didn't know the Larry Wood Nash was repainted, looks a lot nicer that the old color combination.

There seemed to be a lot of very stylish cars produced in 1932... maybe the designers figured they were going to come out of the Great Depression sooner rather than later....
