Yes, it's a fact that EVERYONE built their finest cars in 1932, the same could be said for 1956 as well.

  2. MAN that car has beautiful lines, hell of a beautiful ass end on it as well. Best of luck with your build, im envious for sure.

Here's another vote for AMC power. I'd capitalize on the fact that it isn't a '32 Ford 3W, and resist any temptation to I-actually-wanted-a-Deuce-but-couldn't-find/afford-one-so-I-made-one-out-of-something-else-ism: those always feel like wasted opportunities to me.

Fenders? I think non-original fenders might work if done well, it'd be a coachbuilt touch appropriate to such an upmarket car. Perhaps consider very different teardrop/torpedo/nacelle/wheel-fairing fenders? Most important of all is to choose wheels and tyres that are tall enough to be in proportion with the car.

    Good luck!

Nice looking body, great styling with a supper rugged frame to start with. I like all the non Ford cars just to be different then the norm. I am sure it will be a great build project.

Agree with Nedd. Please don't buggy spring the front end. Leave it stock looking. You just don't see many eliptical spring cars around. Might be a nice place for a Jeep 4.0, but an AMC v8 would be different also.

I still have the Rod & Custom magazine with the feature on Larry Woods Nash. I'd have to spend hours digging but if I remember right he used some components from a 3/4 ton Ford PU when building his chassis?

yea you could use the Jeep straight 6 which is really a AMC engine, 12 port, 7 main bearings, strong runner. Fiind them all over, cheap at picapart, with trans.

Thanks for that link belyea_david I have been trying to find pictures of parallel front suspensions for awhile now.
And I have a 401 that talked to me last night and said he would like to go in the Nash haha.
I put a 4.0 in the Gremlin I am building and now want to do something different.
I am glad everyone likes it so much!!

Here's a couple of cool Nash (Rambler) engines that would look good in there.

    History lesson... :)

Nash had 2 series in 32. First series were leftover body shells from 31, but with slightly restyled V radiators and a few other modern items.

2nd series came out in March 32, as the "real" 32 Nash. These had a sharper V'd radiator, new hood vent doors, heavy X frame, adjustable shocks from the dashboard, oil cooler, alum rods, 7 mains...etc

The second series had many different models, with many body styles.
-1060 was the smallest, and the only 6 cyl.
-1070 was the smallest straight 8 and flathead.
-1080 was a bigger 8, overhead, twin carbs, longer than the 1070
-1090 was the biggest 8 "the Ambassador" and it came in 2 wheelbases. The biggest one was the size of a Duesenberg. 140+ WB. It was called the "Kenosha Duesenberg" back in the day, as it was made in that town.

All of the 32 Nash's are very rare, despite the fact that Nash and GM were the only 2 car companies to turn a profit in 32. 33 is even rarer, with lower production.

Your coupe is the smallest series, the 6 cyl 1060 with 4 hood doors per side. All of the 8's had 5 hood doors.

My car is the same 6 cyl second series 32, but with the 2 dr conv sedan body. Not a popular body style in the US, and some were exported to South America and Europe. Mine is body shell #38; total production is unknown.

I'll bet the catalog or an original photo would make that look totally different. There were Model A Fords and a few 1932's with German built bodies that looked a bit like that. :)

  20. I would expect nothing less than a bitchen Nash from a guy named "Gremilinguy".

    Now, the question.

    Fenders?

    Or, fenderless?

if you go fenderless... bob the back of that sucker a foot or so!

Glad to see so much passion for retaining the original style front suspension. As much as I like Fords, I have to grit my teeth every time I see where someone has cut the front end off a parallel leaf car and installed a regressive Ford front end. Let's face it folks-Fords were built that way because it was cheap-not because it was better.

Here's what the convertible looked like. NICE..... The Rambler V8 would be lost under that HUGE hood. :D

It definately has the originality factor sticking high out of the water and cooler body lines than the norm!
Pretty dang good shape to boot!
    Best wishes and intentions!
