Nah, try it with the '52 Roadmaster caps I see hanging up there.

Those would look cool but they are way too deep for these wheels. I tried just now to verify. :D

I’m leaning hard toward the fiestas. They just seem right for the car. Now, I just need a decent set. A couple of mine are pretty beat up. However, pretty sure I know where to get some nice ones reasonable. Or, I suppose I could try the wheel covers Dan mentioned.

I’ve been toying around with running a set of ‘54 Chebbys on my Tudor like the ones in my avatar.

edit: in that picture he had smoothies but did run the ‘54 Chevrolet on it sometime in its life

Thanks! There is actually a guy in the town that I work in that has quite a collection of wheel covers. Back when I was driving my Thunderbird, I went to see if he had any that I might be able to run on that car. He had bought out a collection from the estate of a friend and likely had 500 or so 50's-60's wheel covers. I need to go see him again I think. I have considered just asking what he wants for all of them. I could use them like wallpaper on the shop walls? Then, I would always have lots to choose from... He actually mentioned that I was the first person that he had ever sold any to.

Dang, what a lucky find to end up with wheels almost the same color as the car! Looks great! I vote the 56 Olds flippers. LOL

I had a really nice set of '52 Chrysler full discs. They went the way of Marketplace a few months ago. This set is on epay right now. A clean look.

What about beauty rings and '49 center caps? This car is a favorite of mine. 49FdCoupe.jpg

The stance on that ‘49 is perfect.

The easy end is done…sitting right at 19” like @lostn51

Need to go feed animals and start on the front.

Ran out of energy to start on lowering the front tonight, but did spend a few minutes shining up the grill and bumper all which has been re-chromed. I found all those receipts in the stuff she sent me last week. VERY nice for a driver. One of the bumper guards has a dent in it that apparently happened after the re-chrome. Everything else is so nice, I’ll likely need to get that fixed.

All you have to do now is put the grille and trunk guards on and we would be the Bopsy twins;)

Myself I prefer the stock '51 caps and rings but that tri spinner looks great too.

What are the chances of finding the right wheels in the right colour? What a score!

    The car looks great already.

This is exactly what's on my 51....had just rings on it forever and looked all over for caps I liked and ended up on the 49s. Personally I can't stand the 51s....

The 49 caps are definitely cool and my favorite of the shoebox caps, but I am still leaning toward Olds Fiestas if I can come up with 4 decent ones reasonable.

Honestly, I need to finish lowering it and pull it outside so I can stand back and let it tell me what will work. I probably have enough different looks to try once I can stand back and evaluate before chasing any specific caps. :D

Update...just called the guy that I bought most of the wheelcovers hanging on the wall from and will go see him sometime next week. :)

I can't look at your car now without thinking of the guy you mentioned bashing it outside a bar recently talking to you. Those non-functional lake pipes and all... :p

I have one driver quality 56 starfire cap I’d donate. The trick is finding it! If it’s not in the garage it’s in storage

Hey @guthriesmith just in case you need another wheel/tire & skirt combo to ponder. :D
    1949+Ford+Custom+Club+Coupe-3.jpg

Or another with caps and rings.

I guess for me what it all boils down to I tend to like shoebox Fords to be a hotrod with just a little custom thrown into the mix.

I agree with your thinking @Rolleiflex! My 56 kinda falls into a similar category. I would love to put chrome wheels on this car but that's not in the budget right now. :D
