just wondering, do you drive around town tossing twenty dollar bills out the window? I can't believe there are no good parts on that Stude that you could sell.

Not sure what this means but I can assure you that if there were any good parts on the Stude I would be taking them off. The car sat outside for over 35 years...this is the midwest, not California! Things rust around here!

Stude went to scrap yard today and then I went and picked up the 41 Ford. Have most of what I want off it already and it will hit the scrap yard on Thursday. Let me know soon if you need any parts off the 41...

  7. Wow, didn't even try to sell anything off it. People amaze me, just because something is beyond your skills you assume it's junk and scrap it, the same as a scrap guy who has no idea what he's even looking at. '39 Stude parts don't grow on trees and if I need a bumper or a steering column/box or any of a dozen other things I'm going to be glad to get one in any condition at all. I guess you can always tell the actual car guys from the dumb shits.

What a shame it could have been saved and now it's gone forever.

Some of you guys really amaze me. The guy stated that if anyone wanted anything off these cars to let him know and he would pull the parts before scraping.
Rustynewyorker posted a typical response but like the others didn't make an offer, just flapped his jaws about the "supposed" value of the stuff. Of course he would have parted it out for $10,000..............yea right:rolleyes::(
Have any of you guys paid any attention to Corndog? I doubt it by the responses. If you read his profile you'll learn that he is retired and this is what he does...............buy,sell swap. Would it make any sense for him to "throw away" anything of "real value"? Some of you guys should get off the computer, open the door and get a breath of fresh air. Sometimes this place just cries out for a reality check.

I am a Studebaker guy... I love them... I would have offered scrap plus for a rare convert in that shape. I have seen them saved looking way worse! He should have at least put the stude up for sale on here or Craigslist or eBay or somewhere. Crushing history is like knocking down the home of a president and putting up a gas station.

I wish people would read the entire post before making judgements. The Stude was NOT a rare convertible, it was a 4 door sedan that someone tried to make into a roadster. It was terrible workmanship even for days gone by. It was never completed as told to me by the farmer whose brother started the project. It was missing one door, rusted through to the frame everywhere, had no wheels, a stuck engine, a dash that was rusted through, no seat, would not even roll as it had sunk in the dirt for the past 20 years; so all axles were stuck. This car had sat outside since 1956! The farmer was clearing the property and the cars were sold as scrap. I posted the cars on the HAMB eight days before I scrapped it and had over 3500 views of the ad. Of those 3500 views I had two inquires about parts...one for the tail lights and another asking about the dash trim. I sold the tailights to the fellow who asked about them and I still have the dash stainless. Before I scrapped the car I e-mailed the local Studebaker club and asked if they knew anyone looking for '39 parts. I got no response. I still took any part off the car that was usable. How RustyNeWYorker can tell from a front end photo that I didnt take the steering box is beyond me. I took the box, steering wheel and column, along with hood sides, hood, dash trim, distributor, radiator, and some other parts. And most of what I took I doubt that I will ever sell! While historic, the car was a piece of crap that should have been saved 40 years ago. It wasnt even good yard art and I certainly didnt want it gracing my property. If you still feel it needs to be saved, PM me and I will tell you where you can find it!
