    Thurs, June 17 ride goes from Convention Center to Beech Bend

    BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - (June 15, 2004) - Historic cars driving through historic
    downtown Bowling Green to historic Beech Bend Park. Sounds, well, kind of
    historic.and fun. And that's the plan Thurs., June 17, as hundreds of hot
    rods, street rods, muscles cars and cl***ics will caravan from the convention
    center at the Holiday Inn University Plaza through the famous downtown
    section of Bowling Green, through horse country to Beech Bend Park as part
    of the opening ceremonies for the second annual Holley NHRA National Hot
    Rod Reunion, presented by DuPont Automotive Finishes, June 18-20, at Beech
    Bend.

    According to Bob Daniels, Reunion event director, "Beech Bend Park will
    be open all card-carrying Reunion participants and the rides will be free. Bring
    the kids for a great night out and be part of the kick-off festivities of the
    NHRA Holley National Hot Rod Reunion."

    This year's early-bird cruise, which will begin at 5 p.m., is sponsored by
    Bowling Green Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau, Daniels said. Gary West,
    director of the Bureau, will be on hand and choose the evening's top vehicle
    and present the owner with a trophy during the Friday night Reunion
    reception at the Holiday Inn University Plaza.

    "I urge all those who registered vehicles to bring out your pride and joy
    and show it off," said Daniels. "Why else did you build it? We all want to see
    what you've got."

    Reunion activities begin Fri., June 18 and run through Sun., June 20.
    Features include Crane Cams nostalgic drag racing in such cl***es at Top
    Fuel, Supercharged G***ers, cl***ic Funny Cars and Super Stocks, along with
    a giant street rod, customs, cl***ics and muscle car SoffSeal "show 'n'
    shine," swap meet for cl***ic car and racing parts, special stage show,
    featuring "the fabulous Diamonds" and a separate amu*****t area, with rides
    and games for all ages, adjacent to the park. Also included is Saturday night's
    special Cacklefest," where early-style front-engine dragsters are push-
    started, then gathered together on the drag strip with engines running
    or "cackling."

    Produced by the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum, the Holley
    National Hot Rod Reunion, presented by DuPont Automotive Finishes, will
    include Crane Cams nostalgic drag racing in such cl***es at Top Fuel,
    Supercharged G***ers, cl***ic Funny Cars and Super Stocks, along with a
    giant street rod, customs, cl***ics and muscle car SoffSealT "show n' shine,"
    swap meet for cl***ic car and racing parts, special stage show and a
    separate amu*****t park with rides and games for all ages adjacent to the
    park.

    The Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion, presented by DuPont
    Automotive Finishes, will also cater to car clubs, with special contests and
    activities for clubs. Information-including a full activities schedule and entry
    forms-is available through the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum. To

    Proceeds of the Holley Hot Rod Reunion, presented by DuPont
    Automotive Finishes, will benefit the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum.
    The museum houses the very roots of hot rodding. Scores of famous vehicles
    spanning American motorsports history are on display, including winning cars
    representing 50 years of drag racing, dry lakes and salt-flat racers, oval track
    challengers and exhibits describing their colorful backgrounds.

    The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum is open Wednesday through
    Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., PST, with extended hours during NHRA national
    events. Current NHRA members are admitted free. Admission for non-members
    is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors 60 and older, $3 for juniors six through 15, and
    free for children under the age of five. The Museum is also available for
    private parties, meetings, corporate events, weddings and special group
    tours. The Parks NHRA Museum is located at Fairplex Gate 1, 1101 W.
