    Tinbender,

My car never see salt or bad weather, and like it was said before. Worm food before the frame rusts out.

Kinda what I was thinking. The frame on my 35 didn't have any paint, and it still looks great.
Most of the old cars were driven on dirt roads, mud is where the rust came from.

The Aloha Stadium in Honolulu was designed to have a layer of rust as it's final coat of 'protection'... go figure.

Well... Even if internal rust wouldn't be a problem in my lifetime, i'd like the frame and everything else to last the cars full lifetime. I'd say that many of the cars on this forum were originally bought by people who are long gone now. What if they said "Screw it, I don't need it to outlast me so I'm not going to try to keep it in good shape!"? Why put the old car inside the barn when it just as well could be parked behind it and rust away in peace there? Would there be any old cars at all if nobody wanted to take care of them?

On the other hand, there's no need to go overboard. A good spray coating of cavity wax or something similar should be fine, especially on a frame w/o openings that can fill the frame with dirt.

    Well said G-son!

  6. No it wasn't. The metal was supposed to form a patina (galvanic corrosion), but it failed. Now it rusts......But seriously, let your car rust anywhere you like. I'll spend the few dollars it takes to protect mine.:D

  7. Wow, didn't think it would go this far........anyway here's the frame in question.

And yes it has a torque arm now.......the pictures was in progress.

  8. seal up all the holes in the frame with masking tape then get a couple of cans of cavity wax with a nice long tube, stick it in an open hole and go nuts, work your way along the frame and rotate the frame as well if your concerned about coverage..

  9. Shoots gun was less than 20.00. Tube with 360* tip was 12.00. I think the wax was less than 20.00........ Knowing I did everything I can to stop the corrosion process......priceless!! You can also get the wax in a aerosol can with a small tube. I use it in all areas of the car that I can't get good paint coverage. (pillars, window frames, and such) Too simple and cheap not to do.

I'm rebuilding the A & B piller bases with the closed tube between them. This method with pore 15 is sounding more and more practical.
