Anyone seen or done a clean way of doing it ?

  2. This is an "O/T" project, but I kinda liked the way it turned out. I used a Suzuki Samurai box that I chucked in the lathe (yes the whole box can be spun by the sector shaft) and turned the housing down until it was round and 2" OD; so it would fit through a 2 1/4" X .120 wall tube sleeve welded into the frame rail. I built a bracket to attach the remaining bolts to the inside of the rail. I can't take credit for the idea. I used to work on a 1916 National Indy race car that used the same basic design with an old Ross steering box...

(Oh, and the steering feel was VERY solid)

Sorry the pic doesn't show it all that well, it's the closest I have.

That’s a great idea ….. I was kind of thinking of a similar deal but the box im going to use will need to be stuffed in to much for that.

I going to use a 40 box on its side.
