Howdy All, After years of lurking and hankering after shoptalk and car culture that's been missing in my life since I left my hometown, I've got a new project, and I'm getting back in the game. I started working on cars when I was fourteen, with the old IH Scout, a few Chevy 2wds, then devolved into 4X4 rockcrawling Toyotas through high school. I moved away for college and got into fixing up old bicycles, and I liked to think of them like hot rodding. But a hot rod you could completely tear down and rebuild in an afternoon. That was eight years ago, and besides a little maintenance and tractor work in between, I've felt estranged from the world of automotive enthusiasm and modification. I'm in a bit of limbo at the moment, without a decent career, trying to figure out a relocation, etc... My girlfriend's Dad just signed me over the family's '56 Chevy wagon, the one that's been sitting for 15 years with a worn-out 6-banger and piles of ratshit in every nook and cranny. Some old high school buddies helped me get it back to Sonoma (ol' hometown), and we're making a group effort to get the thing back running asap with a spare 350ci that was kicking around. It feels great to be back, peeling back the grease and getting an old warhorse that has carted around two generations of kids and taken countless roadtrips...anyhow, I'm looking forward to being part of the H.A.M.B. community as more than just spectator. See you around, Chris Here is the car, and the girl:
Anyhow, can't get the image paste to work, but here is a link to my Flickr with pertinent imagery: http://www.flickr.com/photos/76564068@N05/6876170748/
Welcome aboard! Hope you get the pics working soon. No help to offer in that area. Really dig your handle too, one of my favorite beers.
Thanks Chuxx! The beer's a good'un. By the way, anybody in Portland needs an extra set of hands, drop me a line, I'm up for any projects. -chris
Welcome from Indy. I'm a Ford guy with a soft spot for 55 and 56"s. A guy that I do a lot of work for has offered to sell me his unfinished but super nice 55 sedan delivery. I just can't pull the trigger onit yet but someday
Welcome from Spokane! Love your handle. Reminds me of one of my favorite ales when I worked in the UK. Good luck on the 56.
