Boyd passed away this morning

Both the wake at the church and the reception at our shop is open to all the would like to attend. I find it awesome that many of you are bringing your hot rods out, Boyd wouldn't have it any other way, a very fitting tribute. Thank you again for all of your support, words and prayers, it truly is a help.

He didn't look that old even... I don't think it was his time. Even though his rods weren't my style, his show was a reason I got into the car culture, I loved it.

it seems 'mere words' fail as it comes time to give recognition after a man has left this 'earth'

Boyd Coddington was blessed with talent, opportunity and the support of many willing to allow him to create. no doubt recognition was a personal reward for him.

he NOW is in the company of many 'builders'---HE JUST GOT THERE BEFORE WE DID!

this is a time for those that remain to be given the deserved recognition for their efforts. let us all take the time to let them know, when we have opportunity.

Boyd's influence on all of us is not a matter of opinion - it's a fact.

Weather you hate his work - use to like it once upon a time - or still secretly admire the amount of time and perfection he & his employees put into their product - the way YOU build cars now has been affected by him.

The HAMB has an entire following of builders who have chosen to work in the opposite direction of shops like his. That means that no matter how you opine his style - you have been affected.

Most of the contempt held by the home builders who would slander his name has not been directed at Boyd himself but rather the monetary exchanges that are past the point of any working man's grasp.


After all is said and done you HAVE to admit the cars were executed with craftsmanship that rivals the best. Top shelf to be sure. Style is one thing, as is taste, and neither side of that argument can ever be crowned the the winner. They like what they build - we like what we build.

In the end we're just car guys who are trying to build the best car we possibly can (well at least some of us are). Like it or not that makes him one of "us".

I don't know about you - but I see/meet very few people at work who give a hoot about cars at all. And of that few - even fewer have any real knowledge.


It's sad to loose fellow Rodder.

Is there a more fitting tribute? Boyd would be proud of that thought, I'm sure.

Sadly, Boyd's passing is indicitive of what is going to be happening more and more in the coming years. We are going to be seeing more of rodding's famous people passing away, as the baby boom generation gets older.

Even if you hate his style of car, Boyd no doubt had an affect on the hot rodding industry as a whole. Whether by press coverage, his TV show, or the cars themselves, there is no telling how many thousands of people got into hot rodding because of his work.

Seeing his work gave a lot of people a lot of ideas for thier own projects, and that contribution cannot be overlooked. Even if you choose to build your car to another standard (the HAMB style), your car probably has some kind of Boyd influence, however small.

He will be missed.

He passed on the 27th due to complications from the surgery. At the end of the new american choppers they dedicated the episoed to him R.I.P BOYD.

It's sad to hear of the loss.

He was a visionary craftsman and also a coordinator of fine craftsmen.

I liked the concept of his AlumaCoupe back in the early 1990s.
And I really liked the looks of AlumaTub -- especially the roofline.

Has there been any talk at the shop about what they will do? Hate to see it fade away. I plan on going by the shop,after work on Wednesday. Hope it's still going on.
