I have a '29 Model A Sports Coupe that I got last year, and it's one of those projects where it's going to take forever to make drivable, but it doesn't hurt to try and get it done .. (i've got church and college to focus on.. so, not as much time to dedicate to this project). So, I've learned from watching a lot of tv shows and reading a lot of magazines that if you cut a coupe or a sedan car, especially hard tops, that it is best, if not necessary, to brace the body before cutting the top off. The Sports Coupe that I have use sedan doors, as well as the bracing that runs around the frame of the door that connects the windshield A pillar to the rear quarters. I'm afraid that if I go and cut both of those off to convert the Sports Coupe to a Roadster.. or Coupster.. that once I move the body, it'll fold in half. So, if any of you have built a Sports Coupe- Coupster, whatever, and you braced the body in some way, or if you have pictures (which is a bonus!) then could you guys post those pictures, or describe how you braced the body? Thanks y'all! Matt
Hi Matt, A little square tubing will go a long way. You can make some quick tacs that can be cut and ground later or you can make flanges that can be bolted to existing holes and weld to them. Heres some pics from my photo album. Cheers, CR If you see Dave Crowder tell him I said hi!
Ah, Dave Crowder.. the Christian singer? White guy, has an afro? I've seen him before.. but I've never really heard him sing. I'm deaf.. you know.. not really capable of that. Lol. But, it's cool. You didn't know that.
