Mike Britton here. May I borrow your idea for the exhaust braket to use on my '29? I've never seen any simpler or cleaner. Thanks, Mike
Awesome thread! pic 1 is a re-purposed bracket, drilled out to hold the fitting on the end of a brake line... the round portion on the end of the hex presses into the hole in the bracket. pic 2 (top middle) is my brake pedal spring return/brake light switch depresser bracket. When I press on the pedal, the disc that's holding the brake light switch lets the switch open, turning the brake lights on. pic 3 is my e-brake handle bracket. ref. this thread for more info. pic 4 is a multi purpose bracket... the two round parts hold two a/c lines. I made them from two Kugel stainless line clamps, with the flats trimmed off and welded together. The lower stainless tubes run my tranny cooler lines to the radiator. I parted two stainless AN fittings in half, counter-bored them, and welded them to the 3/8 SS tubes. The bolts that attach the piece to the frame rail is right in the middle, so I'll be able to squish an allen key between the a/c lines to tighten them, but the lines will hide the bolt heads. The top tube is just a run for headlight wires.
I'm putting a 292 inline six in a '40 Chev coupe. Wanted to run a SBC Fluidampr, don't have enough room ahead of it for V belt pulleys. So I machined a crank pulley that fits over the Fluidampr and has grooves for a six rib serpentine belt. Made up the necessary bracketry to rigid-mount the power steering pump, alternator, fixed idler pulley and tensioner. It all looks a little crusty in the pics, I haven't done final paint yet. Not traditional I s'pose, but an option when trying to fit all the components into a cramped engine compartment. I can supply more details if anyone's interested.
Nice stuff on here guys! Here's my contribution. I had a bent front bumper on my car when I got it, and some aluminum stock lying around in the garage. A couple of days later I had two aluminum front bumper brackets, and lost 35lbs off the front end of the car!
That's going to look awesome on the car! I love the welder series stuff too! Thanks for sharing everyone!
Here's my latest...for mounting a fuel cell on a racecar. Too bad it will be completely hidden when the car is together!
Come on guys, you don't have any hair on your rear ends if you can't show me any more brackets! Merry Christmas!
I like brackets that do more than one thing, like my front shock mount, head light mount and radiator mount bracket. You can also see the engine mount and the "bracket" that holds the top of the grill shell in place and mounts the puke can and also the fasteners for my hood sides. The other bracket is my front wishbone mount. Double shear and intergrated into the frame. The last one is my rear cross member that I fabbed so I could run a T spring. Rex

Guys, There is some real creativity out there ! Like them clean and simple. The headlight/shock moun is one of my favorites ! 41 Dave
First pic is of a fan carrier bracket that swivels left and right to compensate for the 7/8in. offset when using an OFFY 4 bbl. intake on an 8BA. Second photo is a simple coil bracket that mounts to a water pump bolt on an 8BA.
i kinda gave up on brackets and just make the part with the bracket built in. clutch slave cylinder ac bracket steering box carb linkage caliper mounts trans mount gas pedal
Not very clear photos, as I only had a crappy digital camera back then, but here's a few of mine An adjustable rubber mounted motor torque arm I made for a Buick 215: A flowed adaptor to fit a carb onto another manifold. CNC machined (with a file and flap wheels): Alternator bracket, made from scrap flat bar: Various suspension bracketry: Shock/light mounts, fabbed from scrap stock: Quarter elliptic leaf mounts: A whole bunch of hand fabbed stuff, everything, in fact, on my V8 bike: And my coupe project: Remote oil filter manifold, whittled from ally: Removable tranny cross member: Front fender mounts, from 1/2" round bar: Panhard rod mount, chassis cut-outs and headlight/shocker mounts: Some firewall hardware/framing: Early days on the chassis parts: And four bar brackets: Basically, I love making this sort of stuff, fine tuning the detail and design. It is what makes or breaks a project: the details. My stuff sure ain't show quality, but it usually does the job, properly.
Wow I don't know how I have missed this thread. And, yes I wish Steve (Elpolacko) would post on this with some of his stuff. You know what sucks about having a friend on that level as far as design and fabrication? I can sit and design and build a bracket (after a couple of templates, of course!) execute the build on a level that's perfect. Then, most folks most folks looking at it will say, "man that's cool!"... And he'll walk over and say, "Neat, but if just had done this, it could have done this, this and this! God I hate overly talented friends!!! I will post some photos of my stuff in the next day or so.
