Ok, I am confused now for sure. The rearend (77 8" Maverick, was leaking oil out the right brake drum. The bearing was only 100 miles old. Replaced bearing and gasket. Now, does the gasket go between the housing and the backing plate, or between backing plate and bearing retainer? I put it on the later, and it really leaks worse than before.
    Thanks for any help.

Did you forget the axle seal that goes under the bearing?

And the gasket would go under the bearing retainer.

Ah ha, didn't forget, but didn't know there was one. Been looking for a good parts breakdown picture. I will check with the parts store tomorrow.
    Thanks
