    Sorry to hear this.

Just for your info there is a neurosurgeon in Australia that does some amazing work. He's a bit of a folk hero and the other surgeons hate him. He has operated successfully on tumors that other surgeons have deemed inoperable. Saved a lot of lives.

If you are interested Google him. His name is Charlie Teo. If you have no luck with that, PM me and I'll chase it up from here.

    All the best

    Pete

A friend of mine had the same thing 10 years ago. He listened to the docs, kept good thoughts, had lots of support and he's disease free and more active today than ever. All the best from Southern California...:)

Sounds like your attitude is right on. Treatment these days is pretty amazing, though chemo and radiation will be really tough. You have a strong support network here on the HAMB. Wishing you the best....and keep us updated.

You've made it this far with that positive attitude - don't get down now ...... keep you chin up. The hard parts over - they removed it before it was to big to remove.

    I'll say a few HM's for you.......

  18. Just a note on tumor grading....

When a biopsy is done it's a very small sample. A tumor can be grade IV in one area and grade II in another. It's like looking at an area the size of a dime on a tire and from that sample deciding if all of the tread is good.

My wife is a 4 year survivor of a grade III Oligodendrogiloma tumor resection in the left Temporal lobe that was only 50% removed because of location. After surgery she went for "Cyber-knife" radiation treatments 5 days a week for 6 weeks. The radiation didn't make her sick and the actual treatments are only about 10-15 minutes per session.

As a bonus her radiation treatment center had a ROCKIN' stereo, so I'd burn some MP3's to disc then donate the disc every day. After the 2nd day the staff would meet us at the door wondering what music we had that day.

Her seizures have gone from having Grand Mals 3-4 times a week before treatment to having a small "focal seizure" about once every 3-4 months after treatment. She used to have terrible headaches nearly every day and those are nearly gone. Her quality of life was greatly improved.

During tough times humor and a good attitude are your best friends and will help you kick the tumor's ass.

All the best to you and if you need support or have questions, PM me. I've done tons of research.

I came in to work today feeling kinda, well you know, kinda blah. Reading this thread definetly got me in the right spirits again! First real cold morning where I wear a jacket to work, slight cold/flu for last few days and the stress of the unknown tumor stuff can add up to a rough morning pretty quick!

Thanks for helping me out with this stuff! I put in a call to the Oncologist this morning, they're reviewing my case and will call to schedule an appt. Feels good to have the forward momentum going, ya know?
