I haven't had the chance to mess with my brakes yet. But please keep the comments coming. This is all very informative.

Need to go to the auto parts store and get a cheap bleeder kit for $4. Two hoses and a set of plastic fittings to fit various master cylinder ports. Until you bleed the master independently of the system, it will never work right. Once you bleed the master, then reinstall the lines, but don't snug them down all the way! Get them up snug, and back them off 1/2 turn. Then wrap the outlets with a rag, and slowly push the pedal to the floor, while watching the two fittings. If you see fluid leaking out, stop and tighten the lines. At this point the master is done, and you can bleed the lines and have a solid system.

I successfully bleed my series land rover brakes all the time despite its reputation as being nearly impossible to purge air bubbles due to its inherently flawed design. The trick was to spend $100 on a powerbleeder and most importantly buy the adapter for the gerling reservoir. Without the adapter it was useless. But with the adapter I just screw it down pressurize the canister go to the left rear bleed nipple, give it a crack until a solid stream of fluid flows and boom! One pump brakes!

  6. I had a bad master cylinder, same problem, new one cleared up the problem.

  7. I would hope the OP has the brake problem corrected, this thread is from last June. HRP

My sentiments exactly HRP! How are you doing? I just read through this whole thread and he/her never mentioned what type of fluid was being used, I've had a hell of a time bleeding silicone fluid in one of my cars and in my other car it's fine. Silicone fluid traps air bubbles in the fluid whereas dot 3 does not.

My apologies. I was just reminded of my post and kindly reprimanded by a member I'll not name. I re routed my front lines cause I think I was trapping air ( my own fault , I ran one line too high on the firewall. Harbor freight power bleeder was the other trick. Thanks for the replies. Oh , and adjusting shoes tight to bleed then backing off to slight drag. As was suggested.
