hi ya'll, i'm working on my 1951 shoebox and i'm in the process of installing the drop kit and disc brake conversion kit from shoebox central. while both kits are well built and complete, the one thing they lack, especially for a novice like me, is a good set of installation instructions. there are a bunch of you tube videos that are out there but again, it would have been nice if shoe box had included a good set with some pictures or even a link to a pdf. maybe they do and i missed it in which case...sorry. anyway to my question. i've enclosed a picture of a clip that came with the calipers and i can't figure out what its for. can anyone help? thanks for any info. again, forgive me if this is a obvious question but, i'm new to this and will welcome any and all help. cheers!
It clips onto the backside of the inside disc brake pad. It helps hold into the caliper piston during assembly.
ok great, thanks. if i've already got the caliper and the pads installed, do i need to remove them and have that in place or its just to help with installation?
Just remove one of the caliper bolts and pivot the caliper if possible, remove the pad and install. If you can’t do the pivot just remove both the bolts. It should the a few minutes with the wheel off.
