Well, I tested the OLD cylinder by taking the BRAKE HOSE and wheel out of the picture. The used cylinder works perfect. I then reinstalled the hose but this time I shortened and cleaned it up a bit. Still, NO pedal. Tomorrow I will take off the drum for the 3rd time and remove the wheel cylinder, take it apart and see what the problem is. It has to be either the wheel cylinder or something wrong with the workings of the brakes in the drum. FYI- I have SPEED BLEEDERS on the front cylinders and I use clear grease on the threads just to be on the safe side when I bleed the brakes. I can tell you that I have become very proficient on bleeding the brakes!
Below is a picture of the PROPORTIONING BLOCK that I'm using. The two TOP ports are for INCOMING from the MASTER CYLINDER. I have a RESIDUAL VALVE between the MC and the PB. There is ONE "OUT" port for the REAR brakes................... There are TWO "OUT" ports for the FRONT BRAKES. One can use both, one for each wheel as I did. OR, you can PLUG one port and run both front wheels off of one port. MY DILEMMA is in the LH front wheel..............everything else checks out OK. I will keep you guys posted and hopefully with some POSITIVE news soon! Thanks for the input and suggestions are always welcomed........... LG, Mike
PROBLEM RESOLVED- It was an air issue - BUT technically, it was USER ERROR............I installed the LH cylinder UPSIDE DOWN. The brakes are now GREAT with about 1 ¼" inch of travel. Glad this part of the project is over............ Thanks again for all the input........... LG, Mike
