Lets start with the facts. 1954 Pontiac Chieftain L8 268ci. 2 door.
Could someone please tell me which ( if any ) rear ends share the same braking system (drums and shoes ) as my Pontiac? I have searched and can't seem to find any place that carries brakes for it. I would like to make sure she'll stop before I get her to go.

    Thanks.

    Give these guys a call:

They might have what you need. They have lots of stuff that isn't in their catalog on the shelves.

I would actually like to know too, actually. I have a '53 that may need rear drums, and definitely a rebuild!

Go here on HAMB 57-64 Olds/Pont rear drums and measure your shoes. If you do your homework you will find some GM interchanges. I will try and find some 54 Pontiac info for you also.

    My Hollander's Interchange says:

    Front drums: Pontiac '49-'54

    Rear drums: Olds '42-'50 (models 66, 68 & 76)
    Pontiac '39-'57

If rears are up to 57 and are 11" dia. then the later drums I listed above will work and the shoes should not be a problem. If you can't find any have yours relined.
