I have looked in all the auto parts dealers in my area. Have made many calls. Done hours of searching on line. Now i must ask the pros.
I bought a model a pickup that someone put in juice brakes.
The master cylinder was installed as part of the project then the cab was put on over it. The master cylinder cover/fill cover was buried never to be seen again.
I had to drill a hole in the cab to access it. I spoke with three previous owners and none of them ever checked the fluid level- 25 years of 3 owners.
Anyway i went to blead the brakes and found that one of the front hoses is bad. I cannot find a correct replacement.
    current hose says -C14066
    17" +/- long
    It is a 3/8 x 24 female 7/16 x 20 male -brake hose
    any help?
    Thanks

I can go get them made, but figured there must be something stock.

Another thing is that WE, meaning all of us who take care of these cars should make a list of what is used so down the road, the next guy can find parts as needed. I have done this with my stuff for my son to use someday

What I've done to find weird hoses is to use rockauto's listings, they usually have dimensions on some of them. Then I pick an application and see what they are. Try common cars and trucks from the 50s/60s, and see what comes up.

for example, it took me a minute or two to find this

    hose 57 chevy rear.jpg

which is the rear hose for a 57 Chevy car

the name brand version is raybestos bh13841

  5. I can look at my books when I get home tonight, if still needed.

  6. A regular 3/8 hose and an adapter

    if all else fails

  8. I’ve had good luck with NAPA matching some oddball hoses with another more common vehicle piece…

the long snout makes it easier to get a wrench on the hose at the wheel cylinder end.

If you want to get more detailed answers, please provide pictures of what you're looking at, so we can see what the problems might be with our suggestions.

I guess the chevy hose will work. I was hoping, when I started looking, for an easier solution to match what I had

  12. Didn’t Lincoln juice brakes use 7/16 hoses?

There's a 63 Falcon up in Virginia somewhere that has a glovebox lid with as much information as I could manage to fir on it that I made changes to, considering it came to me with a 170 six and left with a 302

  14. From my 1981 EIS Catalog, try one for a 68-70 Chevy, GMC 3/4 ton truck, front brake hose. It' s 17-1/4 long, has the ends you stated and a short snout.. 20250605_170942.jpg

If all else fails Brake and Equipment in Minneapolis MN can make one for you if you send them the old one. Just had 3 hoses made for a car at work that had a conversion years ago with no info as to what parts were used.

When I retired from NAPA they were just starting to change their systems over to “compete” with Auto Zone and the others big box stores. All the new stores and remodels got rid of a lot of the stock on hand and only left one rack of abbreviated catalogs. All the old parts guys were leaving and the kids today use a internet friendly system because they’re dumb as a box of rocks and do not know how to think much less look up anything in a catalog. Everything has to have a damn screen.:(:(

So kids the days of bringing in a dead body and getting it matched up are over with:mad::mad::mad:

Check out a Napa UP 36664. It's 16 1/2 long but otherwise seems to match up.

  22. I was going to say the same; except those look like '42-'48 Ford Lockheed brakes which also used hoses with 7/16 male ends.

Interesting how you would know this? I decided to work backwards yesterday and see what the wheel cyl could tell me.
    They are-Wagner Lockheed FD-2766
I think the problem is this is not a common wheel cylinder. the thread size is 7/16 x 20 and new ones commonly have 3/8-24. from what i see on line
So i am working this angle now. I may need to have the two hoses made, then what if the cylinders are bad. so may be time to replace the hoses and cylinders with new.
I have a few hoses ordered, but not confident.

  24. I've used Rockauto lots to match up, usually with some sort of suggested starting point. Rockauto lists ends and dimensions in their Info box.

^^^2x^^^ Most of the time! some instances the pics are generic and no length given. 7/16-20 female suggests a banjo fitting in oem use. If you don't need the banjo capability and are using 3/16 tube just use a 3/8 tube nut?

I use Rock Auto to check things like this all the time and to find part numbers but NAPA still has the paper catalogs with the pages of hoses by size similar to what Carcruise showed in post 14.

You can also search O'Reilly's for just about anything by not listing a vehicle and just putting the item in and as this link shows page after page of brake hoses show up and it does take a while to scroll through but it does have pictures and some measurements. https://www.oreillyauto.com/shop/b/brakes/brake-hydraulics/brake-hose/b5f009f547f7?q=brake+hose

Then you go over to the left side on the drop down and scroll down to the length you want and then the ends you want.

  27. I would say that as I recognize the characteristics of the backing plate in your picture as belonging to '42-'48 Ford Lockheed brakes.

Regarding the thread size; I have been working on Lockheed brakes since I was in HS back in the '60s and they have always been 7/16. The Raybestos WC8264 & 65 that I bought a couple months back still had 7/16 ports.

After your post; I looked up some other listing and saw that Dorman said their cylinders were 3/8; interesting that someone would reengineer specs of a part after 87 years.
Would be an unwanted surprise to someone fixing their brakes and finding a different thread size.

Maybe a modern Chinese thing; on the other hand most all wheel cylinders are made their now-a-days anyway.

Anyway if you did end up with 3/8 threaded wheel cylinders; looks like there would a good choice of hoses that would work for you.

Just be sure to anneal the copper washers as the new ones are too hard.

Had a similar issue with the olds, line sizes not consistent with what comes on parts shown as a “guaranteed fit”. The parts suppliers say, “use an adapter”… Yeah, no…

Any hose shop can make one up. Probably faster and cheaper than napa
