  2. you could put a hydraulic switch in the brake lines , or male a bracket to use a mechanical one

Why couldn't you fab up a mounting plate similar to the old one and weld/bolt it on the end of the gold bracket. Your fab work would not have to be exact, only that when the pedal at rest, the switch is pushed in and when the pedal is engaged the switch is out. And you can adjust the switch in or out as needed.

If you're replacing the Master Cylinder that means you'll be replacing some of the lines and rebleeding the brakes. Just put a "T" in the line and use a pressure switch. That'll be the easiest solution.

If you have any fabricating skills making a bracket to use the switch you've been using is the most reliable. Just check here on the board how often guys have problems with the hydraulic switches

Do the pressure switches turn the lights on when the ****on is released?

Somebody on here gave me direction on the way I did mine. I used the GM switch and mounted up high on the backside of the pedal. There is an arm welded on the backside of the pedal that works the switch. Yours could be a lot prettier than mine turned out, but mine is out of plain sight in the truck.
