Try to make this short.... So I had a problem of the brake lights staying on my 60... I could lightly pump the brake pedal back and forth... and the lights would go out... So easy bad switch... Bought a new switch and installed it.. This car has modified pedal ***y , was 6cylinder 3 on the tree. so the manual pedal was modified and done nice... Brake lights still staying on... I replaced the new switch with old one,and could get the lights to go off.
Disconnected the wires for the old switch and connected then to the new switch... Operating the new switch with my hand could actuate the plunger and worked fine... Wondering if anyone has ran into this problem with new switches. Maybe just need to bend the retaining bracket or maybe some adjustment at the pedal out... Thank you !

If the pedal is returning to the proper location you would adjust your switch until it functions correctly. The pedal does have a return spring to hold it in place?

what 325W said....the bracket it self might need and adjustment - meaning a bend slightly.....

We had a bad one a couple years ago that hung up, defective molding on the plunger let it hang up and stay on, returned it for another one. This was a BWD switch.
