I've got a 53 Ford Ranchwagon, and need some help with the rear rubber brake line that goes from the hard lines to the brass "T" on the rear axle. Here's a pic of the old one. The part that goes into the brass "T" is on the left, and the threads are 3/8 -24 male. The upper part that attaches to the hard line is 7/16 - 24 female.
The total length is 15 1/2 inches.

I need a hose just like this only about 20 inches in total length. Can anyone link me to such a thing? The auto part guy cant figure this out on his computer . They list only by model make and year, not by length.

Find REAL parts store that has their old parts books and an old parts man and that remembers how to use them. You can find almost any combo of sizes you need as the old books list them all, used to do it all the time for customers when they switched rearends or lifted 4x4 trucks.

When I was looking for brake lines on my coupe I was able to find what I was looking for my putting the size of the fittings and brake line into a search engine. A couple of sites have charts that list fitting sizes and lengths. I found some odd ones at rockauto.

Once again a story of how auto parts stores are failing. I predict they will go the way of Blockbuster Video if they don't get their acts together.
As far as the original question, any old (Ford) car supplier can get you that hose, provided the person answering the phone has more training than a burger flipper.

I don't know if this will help you or not. I was helping a guy with his 49-50 ford and he had cross threaded one of lines into the brass tee and of course napa didn't have the tee in stock. I had worked on a 1987 dodge truck earlier that week and the rear brake hose was the same except the tee didn't unscrew from the hose. The part number was 38243 for the hose.

  10. I checked an old EIS catalog and found nothing that was a direct fit for what you're looking for. Ones with ends you want were all shorter. Some would fit with an adapter. As cshades said, you might want to consider one with tee attached.
Here's an example of what I checked:

  11. I saw an EIS one like that but he is looking for one 20" long not 15.5"

  12. Yup, re read it again......how about a F71333 it's 24.5

or you might consider getting one with the tee on the end.

Found one! Thanks for all the input. Once I had a parts # the old guy at NAPA could cross reference it. Same as a 71 Dodge Van...... Go figure...

Good News! Always good when you can get a guy to cross reference. Thanks for the update! Joe

  15. If it's a NAPA #UP 36758, I'm finding that the one end is 7/16-20 threads and it's just under 23" long You posted you needed 7/16-24 threads and 20" long. Hope it works.

I'd just head down to the brake and clutch supply house. (Ours is called Seattle Clutch & Brake) the mostly do semi truck type stuff these days. But any good clutch and brake shop would be able to make you one in about 10 minutes.
