Brake line sizes

    I'm gonna be routing brake lines soon on this T I'm building my wife,just wondering what sizes you guys thought would be best.I've got rearend from a 66 malibu and the front drums are from a 51 Chevy.The master cylinder is a dual from a late 60's Chevy truck.

    The components your useing all were 3/16 I believe. Cal

  4. Use 3/16 or -3AN. How do you know your components will work together? Did you compare the specs to stock setups? Hold on, I will look em up..................
     
  5. OK, the Malibu had Rear Whell Cyl bore of 15/16 and front of 1 1/8. With a 7/8s bore MC OR a 1" bore MC, depending on whether it was a Bendix or Morainc MC. The 51 Chevy had 1 1/8th front wheel cyls also. You did not give an exact year on the MC from the Chevy truck. 67-70 non power were 1" bore so you should be at a good starting point with what you have. May end up going to a 7/8s but try it the way you have it before changing.

    The size of the lines really does not matter. When you apply the brakes it is transferring force (as in hydraulic pressure in hundreds of psi) more then it is transferring fluid volume. So just use whatever size is compatible with the rest of your parts, either 3/16 or 1/4. Either size will work fine.

    Tman the MC is a 1" bore.Thanks for the help guys,brakes are not my specialty, come to think of it nothing is!!!!
