I'm done with Macs, it takes forever to get the parts and when you do they are ****. Oh and 2 out of 4 items are back orders too. Where should I get a good quality 40 ford master cylinder? Would like USA made I'd possible. They last one from macs was so poorly machined I could not get the brake line to seal up. Any suggestions? Thanks

Little Dearborn got me a USA wheel cylinder for a higher price than import . They might have a master cylinder.

Believe it or not but I bought a rebuilt master for an F1 at napa. It was in stock. I'll be using it with '40s setup. If you can get them into their books and away from the computer, you may find what your looking for.

I think dennis carpenters down in north carolina sells a USA model. You could also have an original one redone . believe apple hydraulics does this.

Very seldom have I seen a newly installed 1940 Ford style master cylinder fail. This leads me to believe it is the installer not the installation that creates the problem. First the brake line does not install directly to the feed port of the master cylinder. The feed port has a different size thread and uses a banjo bolt and block port to distribute the brake fluid. Usually a brake fluid leak at the junction is due to the installer failing to install new copper crush gaskets on both sides of the port block. The next issue is that the wrong banjo bolt is used. The correct banjo bolt is a ported bolt that has the head tapped to accept the brake lite switch, this is a pipe thread. If you are having issues with the master cylinder before you run down a business or part be specific with what you are doing and a solution might be easier than you think. How are you trying to ***emble this unit?

I spoke with Macs and their advice was to sand down the surface with sandpaper! Yes I used the correct banjo bolt and yes I used new crush washers - all of which I bought at Mac's. I'm not in the habit of running down a company, but just getting the stuff in a timely manner is issue enough, stuff from Nebraska gets here faster than Mac's in New York.
