Hot Rods Brake MC Identification Request Please!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by cactus1, May 29, 2025.

  1. This would appear to have the wrong rubber in it. The pics aren’t great. It’s a bit dark in the garage right now but I’m sure someone will recognize it? It has two mounting bolts and is dual circuit. Thanks!

There are several of them that look like that, you'll probably have to get some better details about it to find a replacement, if that's what you're after.

here's one, to get you started. Fits lots of late 60s-late 70s GMs

  4. That sure looks like it. Thanks! I’ll poke around it and see if it has any markings but I did not see a darn thing.

I think they are commonly aftermarket reproduced with a variety of outlets on them. I’d say if it measures correctly it’s close enough for rock and roll.

check bore diameter, and pushrod hole depth, as well as fitting sizes.

  7. It looks pretty good inside once cleaned up. I’m hoping I can just get the proper seal to start with.

74 Vette is disc/disc. That rubber you show looks like disc/drum. Disc/disc won't have the residual check valve for the drum side.

Some of the after market ones are for disc drum but either way if the lids the same the rubber would be the same

The cylinder looks like a drum/drum, the rubber is for a drum/disc, the Corvette disc/disc cover is much larger, although both sides of the reservoir are the same size.

  12. This is someone’s funky old hotrod. ‘36 Ford pickup. Has what appears to be a Hi-po 390, C6 trans and stock front end with what look like F-100 brakes. Rear looks like 9” from an F-100 as well.

So, drum/drum MC with the wrong rubber hence the query! Thanks for all the replies.

This is a must. Check the bore diameter and the depth of the indent in the piston as depending on application that indent changes.

That looks the same as the dual master cylinder for a 68 Chevy pickup that I have used on several drum/drum brake applications. The list of vehicles that part number fit is a long one.
