all New components, Sure, the brake booster is from a 58 Chevrolet all new components got a hard brake pedal. I got a half inch maybe a half inch plate on the pedal. Any idea?
I've got ideas.....but long distance diagnosis... you had brakes before, but without a booster, so you added a booster to reduce the pedal force necessary? with or without vacuum you have a hard pedal? Does it stop the car? by the way, boost is a replacement for displacement....
i think we figured it out. it has the 58 conversion and geometry of rods is out of wal. ordered new mounts to get rid of this concoction . i added disk brakes.
All I know is that if you start having overheating problems you might want to flip your fan and shroud onto the other side of the radiator, that's a lot of blockage out front and the louvres look like they are there to allow air to p*** through easier when driving at speed
so removed the 58 brake booster. bought a new one. not the geometry like the 58. works great. good brakes now
This is a common problem with these aftermarket power brake kits. They add an extra rocker linkage that allows the booster and MC to be raised up to provide additional clearance. However, the linkage as designed cuts the mechanical lever ratio in half, so any advantage you might gain with the vacuum booster goes right out the window because of the stupid rocker linkage design. The quick fix (***uming it is possible) is to redrill the brake pedal so the link connection point moves halfway closer to the pedal pivot pin. Sometimes this isn't possible due to fit and geometry.
Can you help an Old Car Junkie out. Upload some pictures of the parts and process you went through to achieve success, so us Old Farts have something new to look at on this Forum. I just need a fix, man…
i’m out of town at the moment. i’ll get some pics. i bought the starlight booster mount. installed spacer in master cyl. booster came with adj rod had to shorten. installed all and adj. works fine
