been working on my brake system (55 olds non power m/c) rebuilt the m/c wheel cylinders on front and replaced the shoes. i have bleed the brakes 10 to 12 times, getting clean fluid coming through all of them but still getting lots of air bubbles. i cannot find any leaks at the master or wheel cylinders. last time i bleed them and got a firm pedal then when i drove it they stopped but about an 1 1/2" from the floor. any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. thanks

I've had the same problem before and mine turned out to be the shoes were not adjusted right. Also more recently I've had a problem with the bolt holding the brake pedal together under the dash has come loose causing excessive movement.

Did you bench bleed the master before installing?

  4. If you still get air bubbles, your not done bleeding.

or you have a problem with the system ****ing air.

  5. See #3 and #4. Are you doing the bleeding in the correct sequence, RR-LR-RF-LF?

What kind of fluid? If you're using DOT 5 silicone fluid, you will get air for a looooong time and sometimes you'll never get 100% of it out. No matter what kind of fluid, if you're still getting air, you still need to bleed. I bet it's ****ing air from a bad fitting, cracked flare, or cut o-ring.
