Quick question.....fitting discs on the front of a 4 wheel drum vehicle (1952 Pontiac) with single circuit mastercylinder.
Was planning on using a remote booster for the front discs only. Now I've seen this done using dual mastercylinders, but not using a single circuit master.
    Anyone see any problems?
    Thanks.

It is silly to add discs to a car without making the common-sense upgrade of a dual master cylinder while you're at it. WHile you're there make it power.

  3. A booster for the front brakes is a waste of time IMO. You don't even need a booster, it just makes for less pedal effort. As for the single MC, toss it for the dual unit designed for disc/drum combo. This MC will have the pressure valve needed to properly activate the rear brakes. Otherwise you will need to buy a pressure valve and install it in line.

Disc and Drum brakes operate at vastly different pressure ranges.

I'm thinking you can't run disc/drum brakes with a single circuit master cylinder

You most certinaly can , look at Brit sports cars in late 50s mid 60s and I'm sure others,Volvo also. What they did though was run very small bore rear wheel cylinders to reduce the amount of braking on the rear to make up for the higher line pressures disks need/use.
