I'm using a '40 Ford pickup front end in my RPU project. Does anybody know what F1 or F100 models would have self adjusting brakes, a 5 x 5.5" bolt pattern, and would bolt-on to the '40 spindles?

    Thanks, Kinky6.

  2. Go to tech and read Modernbeats.."the brake article to end all brake articles!"...That should help. HRP

Like the Tech deal I did for the Tech Week says........1953 - 1956 F100 stuff. I just buy new all the brake hardware (springs, clips, adjusters ect) for a 65 -66 F100. It is self-adjusting and goes right on. I use 65 -66 F100 brake shoes too. They are the same as the 53 - 56 F100 stuff but have the holes for the self adjusters to hook on. [IMG]

I just stumbled into this conversion (self adjusters).
I was looking around for some good drums (53 to 66 F100....all the same) and found a bunch of old Fords in a field while appraising the 250 acre farm for a sale price. I have a real estate license and work for my Dad..part - time. No good drums showing [IMG] but I noticed that the 66 had self adjusters. The light went ON and I bought all the hardware and stuff NEW. It would not fit..... No matter what I tried...it would not work..the wire was too short. I tried for 2 - 3 hours a time or two. Still no dice. I decided to try the other side ( I do not know why...hard headed I guess) and BAM....in 10 minutes everything was on. The first set of hardware I tried had the wrong wire in it..too short. I went and bought another wire and within 10 minutes it was on also.

I bring this up only because it happen to a friend of mine too. But we both buy our stuff from the same parts chain..different stores........

Hey, guys, thanks for the info. I'm going to call Bingham about the hubs/spindles, backing plates, and drums on Monday. They may be cheaper on eBay, but the shipping is free if I'm drivin' by there anyway!
