hi , can anyone help me I need some inspiration and advice on the best type of brake system for my altered. After seeing the bradfords topolino at Santa pod a few weeks back I got plenty of inspiration with the way I want it to look, what a great bunch of guys the bradfords are.

since you didn't say what it is going to be, under 10 seconds, drum brakes will do on a long shut down area but the best would obviously be willwod disc with front disc too.

It's a topolino with a blown Buick 215 motor. It has a commercial vehicle rear end .

We run a Topo altered with a blown BBC on alky. The brakes are just a pair of solid rear discs with 2-pot calipers activated by a single AP style master cylinder on a hand lever. WORKS FINE!

Thanks guys, I'd thought about using a fiat 500 master cylinder just to keep it sort of fiat.

  7. Whatever rear brakes you can muster and a chute. All the brakes do on an altered do is slow you down before you throw the laundry out.

Drums were ok on a long track, marginal on a short one. Upgraded to rear discs and they work great under 150 mph. I've haven't been faster so I can't speak to that. We use GM metrics. On a light car I think aftermarket discs are overkill (cost wise) at that speed.
