let me just start by saying i am no expert,on brakes or Buicks.
but we are gonna need to know, are you doing drum/drum,or disc/drum,or disc/disc?
also,do you currently have power brakes or manual?

You may wanna look a bit closer at that info. That price is for the caliper brackets. You will still need to purchase the calipers, pads, rotors, inner & outer bearings, hoses, etc, etc. Plan for about $700 - $1000 for a disc brake conversion "kit".

The problem with the "kit", is that the seller won't even suggest a master cylinder for you to use and even says that some of his customers use the factory drum/drum single res. master with discs up front and drums in the rear. That's not exactly what I would call "safe".

My 55 Special has manual brakes and I very recently upgraded to a dual master on it. I used a manual, dual res. master from a 68 Olds Delta (Advance Auto part number 131489). Works incredibly well! I believe Olds also offered a power master for the same vehicle, but I don't recall as that was not what I was looking for.

However, because mine is manual and yours is power you may have to do a bit of research. I would look into a master from a 68 Olds Delta but with power brakes due to the fact that they were heavy cars (about 4100 lbs) and still had drum / drum systems. I'm relatively sure the mount for the master would need to be modified, new brake lines will be needed, etc, etc. Keep in mind that the bore of the master and the bore of the wheel cylinders has to match. Your 56 should have 1" bore wheel cylinders but I am not 100% on that.

Good luck and let me know if I can help more.
