I'll be in Brazil for the rest of the summer, anyone down there? LONG LONG Time AGO There was a rumor that you could still find a 34 down there, something about the goverment down there buying the old ford factory stampings... anyone ever heard this...???
theres a guy here in ND that took a trip to argentina and brought back a ton of old tin, 32-34 roadsters, 3 windows, a few 37 cabriolets.... the rumor is he lost his *** after shipping them up here and trying to sell them. but i guess they arent hard to find down there? who knows.
There's a fellow by the name of Dr. Kaplan.........from South America .......and he used to sell lots of V8 early Fords in Hemmings Motor News...... My Dad went down there in the 80's and said there was a lot of V8 Ford stuff there......but that was 20 years ago......
Pictures! Pictures! Pictures! Take lots of pictures! I think about 30-40 rolls ought to suffice. Or ******s...
look out for those factory OHV'd flatties too, ment to be some good old tin down that way, I know a couple of folks in Brazil, seems like there are some real nice spots over there, unfortunatly they ain't petrolheads so can't find me stuff.....
Argentina is the place you want to be. Argentina and the United States once shared the status of being net exporters whose main trading partners were europe and not each other EXCEPT for automobiles. Lots of american knockdown kits were shipped for final ***embly in Argentina. There are still heavy cl***ics being pulled out of garages and barns ie Packard Touring and the like. Kaplan sounds about right. Someone has been running an ad in Hemmings for years selling back to the USA. We have Hambergers from the big A don't we? Don't cry for me...
Kaplans in Argentina has a website and always had cool cars for sale Model A,32,33,34s you name it, its been there for sale, but shipping runs the cost up 1800 bucks or so, anyway I keep it bookmarked because he gets neat stuff http://www.kaplansfamily.com/
All gone, in part thanks to that Mr. Kaplan (he's Argentine like me) that has been selling all our car history for decades (I know, they were born in US but they were raised and lived their life's best years here .... ) regards
I own a condo in Uruguay and my whole family is there ( I am a born american). Everytime I go down there I ALWAYS see and find some cool ****, but the problem is bringing it back. Next time I go Im going to do some research and see if I can bring and ship some stuff back. My family in Uruguay owns the first Model A ford shipped to Uruguay, and its a right hand side drive model too. We found it after it was sold 30 years ago in a barn and had it restored for our oldest living relative's wedding ann.
