This former ISCA showcar showed up for sale several years in a row back in the late 80's at the KKOA leadsled swap meet. At the time I thought 12 grand was too much for a 30,000 actual mile real SS396.... dammit...

  19. My school pal got a ride to the '77 Nats with his older brothers. We were envious.
When he returned, one car he mentioned remains in my memory, despite no photos, only a verbal description.
The car was a Standard Vanguard 4 door sedan, duck-egg blue, with a 350 Chevy and Jaguar front & rear suspension, with Mickey Thompsom tyres on custom chrome wire wheels. My friend described it as a 'nationals freak'. I need to draw a picture of it, just to visualise it.

Wasn’t this an original Mopar show car that they did for the Scat Pack series?!? I remember it sold at Mecum for a chunk of change and it was built by a prominent customizer which I can’t remember their name. Mark you posted this so I know you’re the go to guy on this one;)

The RTS Cuda Built by Chuck Miller for Chrysler as part of their Rapid Transit system promotion. They had brand new cars customized then did a cross country tour to a bunch of dealerships to show potential customers what could be done with their cars. Really cool promotion

The 70 Road Runner was found and completely restored about 20 years ago. It was almost 100% still complete.

Not the Plymouth Rapid Transit 70 Road Runner. Only one of those were built! They even managed to score an original Road Runner decal. They were made to put on showroom windows and displays, not cars.

I'm keenly interested in seeing the cars built in the mid to late sixties that qualify as freaks or machines! Almost all the Magnum publications, i.e. High Performance Cars, Super Stock and F/X and Speed and Supercar featured them. Car Craft with it's Dragsters for the Street issues and Popular Hot Rodding also snuck in some true street brawlers those years of '68-'70.
