    Jimmy Addisons Silver Bullet.

I've never categorized it as a "Street Freak" but I bet all the guys that got their asses handed to them probably did.

    The definition of Bad Ass.
I saw the bullet at the MCACN event near Chicago a few years ago, I’m not a MoPar guy but if you have a heart beat you have to go nuts over that car. I remember when it was prowling the streets of Detroit, the magazines made it even more famous. The current owner knows he has a piece of history but if I remember correctly he does not tell the story of the real history of this icon. Did you know the car was originally dark green? They never painted the inside of the trunk, so it is still the original color.

It was pretty stock looking, but those in the know saw little things that showed deeper intent.
For example, when other guys were making their cars louder, this was trying to keep the noise down.

    Damn straight!
People scoff at "mid tens" nowadays, that was haul'n and the tires back then were shit compared to the compounds of today.
My first introduction to real horsepower (and torque) was around 1972, just out of high school, I became friends with a guy that had an original 66 Belvedere I street hemi car, factory 2x4, four speed, Dana 60, etc, yeh, I quickly learned what heavy duty was.
I helped him with the typical mods of the day, the intake was an Edelbrock "Rat Roaster".
The factory shifter was swapped for a Mr. Gasket Vertical Gate unit as well as a number of rear gear changes.
Did I mention that 426 hemis liked to eat bearings, many times I was under that car.
The car was drag raced as a Super Stocker but only locally because it just wasn't competitive as a true SS car on a national level.
My first ridealong was at Madras Drag Strip in central Oregons' high desert country with rabbits running across the track.
When that car launched all I could see was headliner, it really was a violent car, I can't imagine what Addisons' 487 inch hemi felt like.

The 67 GTX is my favorite car of all time, perfect design. The Silver Bullet was an amazing and beautiful car, I would have loved to see it in action in a street race.

In 1972 NSRA held the Street Rod Nationals in Detroit, my friend debut his flamed ( by Butch Brinza) ‘32 Roadster at the event. During the event a couple of Hot Rod Magazine scribes saw it and immediately wanted to do a feature on it. When my friend told them the car was not only flamed in the top but also underneath they wanted pictures of the bottom of the car. To do that they drove to a Sunoco gas station on Woodward to use the lift. So happened that one Jimmy Addison was the proprietor of that gas station and in order to use the lift they had to move the car that was currently occupying that space. Yes, the Silver Bullet!
Addison fired it up and moved it into the parking area so they could shoot the pictures. How cool is that??
