‘Survivor’ Street freak I saw at a show in Oxnard, CA several years ago. Great build.

MAN....I just love this thread. I hope it sticks and I applaud Ryan for trying something new! I was born in '73, grew up in the "street is neat" era with a lot of Street Freaks. THOSE are the cars that I fell in love with and lusted after as a teen into my 30's when I finally could build one....Here are mine for your consideration....my el camino and my Aero Willys, both BBC motivated. green monster.jpg my 65.jpg my gassers.jpg aero at gathering.jpg

I have always loved the Street Freak look, makes me think of real life Hot Wheels cars.

I owned this 1969 Corvette for a while..it was unrestored. It had been bought at Stick City in the early 70s...a hipo used car dealership..it was already this custom configuration. It was painted by Larry Watson in his trademark lavender/fascia. The car might have been 3 years old when fully customized. Had 15x12 Ansen slot mags in the back. It had a Mako shark kit on the rear with one single taillight on each side. Also had a custom made one piece rear bumper. Drivetrain was impressive..it was a dual quad 427 4 speed ( when I had it, it had a 396). I was overwhelmed by all the glass work it needed..so I sold it. It wasn't bad..I just didn't know how to fix the glass up. Anyway..AFTER I sold it..someone posted pictures of an indoor car show..maybe Long Beach? And there is the car..plain as day. It was badass.

I miss the days of "mall" and "stadium" indoor shows.

And hardly a black or white car in the bunch. It was a colorful period.

I remember a CC or HR article on a V8 Vega some shop was bolting together. It had the stock one and the built one next to each other facing the camera. The V8 had a tall stance and just looked mean, even though the PS cars tended to be real low by then.

Love your Vette! There's so much to drool over in these pics. That cool El Dorado in third pic, and in second pic I see that winged, pink pearl Vette Watson painted for that billboard chick, "Angeline"!!! Loving all the bugs and buggies too...
