40+, short, fat and hairy, Drive an all steel 28A roadster, small block chev, 700r4. Other projects incl a Fiat Topolino that is gona be either a roadster pick up or a lakes style streched coupe (OK its a shell on the drive!!) and a 74 MG Midget that has a 2liter Pinto lump currently but may get a turbo cosworth (up to 500bhp from a 4 pot) or a rover V8 (215ci all alloy buick) OK it's not a hot rod but real good fun to drive) and a hardtailed chop (harley it's not but I have plans!!!!!) spent too long building cars I didn't really want.......... spent too much cash building cars I didn't really want....... Rodding here is sometime difficult due to constantly having to import stuff and is so far off to one side, it's considered elitist by some (import moders) and heracy by the Cl***ic boys, particulally when you show up at a cl***ic car do and walk off with best of show!!!! Trailers are for hauling **** (and parts, and projects) Rods are for driving (even when gas here is $9 a gallon and it rains alot and your A has no wipers) best advice ever given "Don't get caught and if you do make sure you've covered your back" most truthfull statement "If it has ***s or wheels it's bound to cost you money and give you grief"
Welcome aboard from a dis-placed Brit...Lets see some pic's of the 'A' & the Fiat too.... Lot's of UK folk on here too
The modified is known as Old Number 7 and is a wll known car in the UK, I got it a couple of years ago after I worked out I had £5000 in parts and no car with the prospect of a year in in the garage (and it's cold and wet here for around 6 months of the year) and spending probably the same again before it was on the road. For around £1500 more than the parts I already had I bought the T and could drive it NOW! I drove the wheels off it for the time I owned it, including a memorable 100 mile drive home, in february, in the dark, in the rain and I mean visability down to around 50 yards!!!! No roof, no wipers with no fenders, when ever I turned the wheel the front tyres threw water in to the car, under 40mph the rear tyres threw water forward and I drove in to it. but at 120mph (an ignition fault meant the last 30 miles had to be done at full throttle!!) the water went up, 20-30 foot roostertails..... By the way no fenders is illegal in the uk!! I sold the car a few months ago as the had just got the A and we couldn't get the family in (me, wife, kid, dog) didn't want to but 2 rods, 2 dailys and 2 projects with a single car garage just doesn't mix and I like being married!! pic shows just how tight the car was (you can't see kid) and it was taken at the spring nationals in June 2004 (yes June, please note the coats and mud on the wheels!)
