Before buying a Tallon frame, you may want to check this thread on the Honda chopper board.

if you haven't already, check out British Cycle Supply's frames. They say triumph, but they're generic rigids that can be used for just about anything, and they're supposed to be well made. About $400, which is good if you want to just buy a frame. http://www.britcycle.com/

[/ QUOTE ] HEY! I just found out that's what mine is... it is a really nicely built frame, it just needed to be striaghtend

I raked the front end back to stock (or close to it). I like that better.

I bought some stuff from Casey over the years...
Before his business EXPLODED he was ALOT more accurate on his
    "time estimation"
    And stuff...

Never bought a frame from him, just little stuff,
But it seems like lately I must be "one of FEW",
Cause everyone else seems to be having bad experiences...

    here: http://www.britcycle.com/Products/customframe.htm
or go to the alphabetical product list, and F for frames. And since they also sell plunger frames on that page, I'll take this opportunity to say plungers **** before anyone even brings it up.

Just a very poor quality suspension that's not worth having that I think people go with because they think a hardtail will be really uncomfortable, which they're really not. Then you end up with a half-***ed look because the fender's too high off the wheel. Better to just use a swingarm if you want suspension. And plungers are for hippies.

CCI used to advertise a sprung rear hub for hardtails in the back of Easy Rider years ago. Last time I was on their site, didn't see it listed. Anyone have any experience with them?

I guess a decent seat goes a long way toward ****ing up a hardtail's ride. I rode my dad's 48 WLA daily for about 4mo and it was fine, but it had the stock seat rod setup. [IMG]

    Here's one I'm checking into.
Not exactly a bobber but I think it has great cl***ic lines. Reminds a little of a Triumph.
Cool paint job, Harley mufflers, shorter shocks and cut down seat.

by bobber, I'm ***uming you just mean choppers that aren't longbikes? That XS looks nice. It'd make a real nice cafe racer with a clubman bar, re****ts, and lose the blinkers and trim bits.

I don't want to know what you'd need that kind of plunger on a bike for.

He says he wants a grand for it, plus I'd have to have it shipped, about another $200-250. It's a little out of my price range.
I think that plunger is a Jap model...it's a ****uki. [IMG]

Mike, I own Kutty's chopper and I'm embarr***ed to say that I keep running into electrical problems. It's not charging properly, so I've pushed it home as often as I've ridden it. [IMG] Next step is to replace the stator. It certainly is a good looking bike and everyone breaks their necks getting a look at it.

Ibought a custom metalflaked streamline olded and extended CB 450 from a wino for $10. He said t ran ok but the battery wouldn't charge. I was riding a SPortster at the tme and I was comparing notes.... Battery, battery, wires, wires Sporty generator, no generator, where's the friggin gnrator I saz to myself.. SO I trace the wires from the battery to a black plastic do-hinkey under the seat and then to the side of the engine where was a magneto.. An alternating current magneto too.
So I check with a voltmeter and the needle is going nuts.. so I look at that little balck plastic do-hickey under the seat and take it out and go to the Honda dealer and say "what is this do-hickey?" and the parts guy says its a diode rheostat so I think Ah-ha! the diode to block half the AC current so the battery will charge.. so I say "Gimme one" and he says "uh-uh, can't" so I says "you better!" He says, "I can't because that old thing is discontinued" so I says "whaddyamean discontinued, they still make a CB 450, there's one in the showroom!" So he says "Yea but they changed that part on the new ones and that ones discontinued." SO I says, "Are they still the same voltage?" He says "Yea" so I says "Just sell me the oldest one that they still do make" So he says "It won't fit, it wont work I can't guarantee it" So I says "big ****in' deal, the sign say you don't guarantee electrical parts anyway, just go get the part."
So he gets it, and it's square where the other one's round and it's round where the other one''s square but it's got ezzaktly the same wire plug in's and it mounts ezzacktly the same and it worked just fine!
So I rode it for a few months, it was fun gerring stared at on it, I guess, but I sold it to a Salvadorian refugee in South Central L.A. for $350. I think that's where it was built in the first place...
He loved the three shades of purple metalflake roses airbrushed all over it, and the Lucas license/brake light molded into the fender and the "hang ten" chrome foot on the kick stand...

    Donzie,

If that bike your checking into is the one I think it is, you should talk to the seller and see his other bike he is selling...I think it was an xs 650 chopper. I could be mistaken, but that bike looks very familiar...just can't remember where I saw it. Anywhoz, I was digging around and looking to see what there was for XS650's out there and parts. Man, I had no clue how many were out there, how affordable some can be and yet how there are still places to get readily available parts. I just found out today that there is one sitting at the house next door that I'm negotiating for...I'm hoping to steal it for $100 and it runs like a top. Keep your eyes open, those things are everywhere and were pretty popular in the day from what some folks have told me.

    GREAT POST!

I have always loved bikes. I had them before cars.
Last one i had was an old sporty i did. I mis it.

    been thinking of doing another.
My uncle is heavy into brit bikes, he's gotta have at least 8 complete triumph's, a couple BSA's, and Ariel, TONS of parts and many complete parts bikes.
I'd build one somewhere along the line of the one's Mike51 posted..

Man, i think i should call him this weekend and get some stuff together..

    Thanks for the incentive!! [IMG]
