I think a smoother bumper would look better. Is the car a street rod or a custom ? Or is it an historical vehicle ?
If its the car in your avatar, go for it, I think they look smooth on those old chevs, kinda keeps the grille lines going
NO, they look like crap! They are supposed to be a repro of 30-something Desoto bumpers that were used on early hotrods. they don't look right, even in that regard. They definately don't look right on a later model custom car! If you're looking for something more "correct" try 49 Plymouth bumpers. Ribbed, and truly traditional!
What matters here is what do you like! I personally don't care for the cheep looking repop bumpers. With so many options out there use your imagination.40's cars have so many cool looking bumpers try something different. Go to a swap meet ,pick up a few. Make your own, cut weld and create a bumper that goes with the car. If you are going for the street rodish look go for it.If you are going for the custom look I would fab my own.
They are a rough copy of 1937 de Soto bumpers. 1949 Plymouth ripple bumpers might work on your car, but Briz - kinda like a strap on on a dyke....
They scream street rod to me, they are great quality etc., but I agreee with most neg. said. Plymouth 1949 is the only way if you need them ribbed for your pleasure. My 2 cents. ~Sololobo~
