I saw a 50 Ford this past weekend with a set of Briz bumpers. It got me to thinking that since I need a good set of bumpers for my 50 these may be an option. Does anyone have any pros and cons to them? Surely they would be cheaper than replating my bumpers I have now. How pricey are they? I checked the website and there are no prices, must have to call to get a quote. Like or dislike, speak up.
I bought a used set for my '39 a couple weeks ago and think they are alright. I feel like they are a little too wide vertically for my car but they are growing on me. They are very soft aluminum so I can see them easily getting dinged. Don't get me wrong though I'm very happy with them so far for what I paid. I think there are a lot of people here that aren't fans so be ready. I believe they run around $300 for a pair but don't quote me on that.
I got them on my 54 Chevy. I think the are nicer than the origonal. But I really hate that they are not anodized and are always dull because polishing aluminum ****s. I've had them a LONG time. The front dosen't have any road damage or ding, so they are OK as far as that goes.
They work nicely on some cars but look stuck on on others. I thought about putting them on the 48 at one time.
I had briz bumpers on my 50 plymouth for a couple of years they worked and wore well untill I was able to fit 49 plymouth bumpers on I just sold them for 200 bux ..half of what I paid I feel good about it!
They are nice enough to chrome as they come from Briz. They will also custom bend bumpers for little extra if you send them a template.
I sold a pair of 1937 De Soto bumpers for $600 in 2004 which was market price then - I doubt if they have got that spendy since....
Briz bumpers can look okay if used well. But just like the real 1937 DeSoto Bumpers they are roughly based on they only good good on fat fender cars. And actually only on 1940 and older model cars.. with a few exceptions. But nothing can beat the look of a set of real DeSoto bumpers. Briz bumpers don't really work well with anything from the 1950's...
