Which way are you guys mounting them? Just got my 17 inch pair in yesterday for my 8BA. They have the inlet labeled on the ends with the opening of the louvers facing away from the engine. I always thought the opening of the louvers were supposed to face the engine so the exhaust would flow into them. Am I mistaken or are they labeled correctly? Anybody have any video links with them facing forwards or backwards on an 8ba? The second picture is the one labeled Inlet And the third would be the outlet

They are labeled correctly; sound waves will happily enter the louvers upstream as they're traveling over 700 mph.
You don't want exhaust g***es in the packing more than necessary.

They will be quieter with the "scoops" facing towards the engine and louder and more free flowing facing away from engine. We run mufflers similiar to those with openings to the rear on our race cars on circle track where mufflers are required.

I’d imagine the sound waves will bounce around in every direction in there. Have you called the manufacturer?

Slide them on and fire it up both ways. Use the way that sound best to you inside and outside the car. :)

I guess I'll do that. Wasn't sure if I'd blow the packing out or something running them with the louver openings facing the motor

I have my Brockman's mounted with louvers facing back on a 350 and love them. On my flatty v8 witch is stock I would mount them the same way. The wife says I can't hear anyways. I have a video on here ***led BROCKMAN MELLOWTONES if you want to hear them.

Stefans, if they are steel packed you should be fine as the steel usually will not be blown out.

So I put them on as labeled and they really do quiet the exhaust down. To be honest I'm pretty surprised. It did change the tone of the exhaust a bit which I'm not a huge fan of. I may end up pulling them and just running straight pipes after all.
