Hello all, I acquired a Brunner compressor a few days ago. It has what I was told is a 60 gallon tank. It has a 5 HP Dayton motor. I wired it up to 220v and it runs great, very quiet. What I cant find out is how old it is. How can I tell if the tank is about to blow, where to get a new pressure switch? I will attach a picture. Thanks for the help! IMG_0974.JPG

Yep they actually do talk about things outside of their fancy designer man cave shops over there.

5 hp Dayton motor came from Grainger at one time or another as that is their brand for electric motors like that. Not one thing wrong with that though as they sell good stuff.

That looks smaller than a 60 gallon tank, but I would turn it so the belt is towards the wall, especially without a guard on it. Safety first!

If you do not know the history of the tank, it should be hydrotested to a pressure which is a bit more than the maximum pressure set on the pressure switch. You can do this yourself. Disconnect where the compressor feeds into the tank and connect a pressure hose. Fill the tank completely full with water. It must be absolutely full. You can cannot a grease gun to the pressure hose and pump it to raise the pressure. If you have the tank full of water it only takes a few pumps to raise the pressure. Any leaks or weak spots will make themselves known. Drain the water and you are done.
