Equalizer, this thing doesn't even have a radio in it. I will tell Bubba he needs to get a radio fer the digger! Thanks for the tip!
smothered, ****tered, covered and peppered!! Just had some for lunch toady and will have somemore in the morning at seven. Building a Waffle House Special takes a lot of energy...
Well its 99% done ! A very special thanks to all the people that have helped us get this project off the ground and on its wheels. All the HAMBERS for posting the ideas to start with ! Ryan for having some 62 Bubba Vision on this project to start with ! Tom Culbertson ( Culbertsons Customs) for a super fab and ch***is welding job. ( Chief welder Pete Farrah), Cliff ( the dog catcher) for shooting the paint almost over night, Wally ( Grumpys Hot Rods ) for not only being my friend/helper but also the plumber ( fuel and brakes). Terry and Mike our day to day helpers with bolts nuts cleaning and putting up with me the last few weeks trying to get er done. Tracy ( 29 Sedanman ) for the wood handles in the wheel and detail. Lindross for cheering us on as we were getting it done. And all the other well wishers that tuned in each day to check it out and offer suggestions. Shes a beauty. We will display next weekend at the Indianapolis World of Wheels car show. (complete with a seat full of rule sheets for all to take home and think about) One local shop owner just left with his crew to start planning another one after seeing this one. Cant wait to light the tire up on this one!!!!
Bubba, , , FANTABULORIFFIC look. hey, one suggestion? staple some cheap print shop pics of your car to that rules sheet. . . nuttin beats photos for inspiration!
Got the car on the hauler heading to the car show this weekend in Indy. had it fired up yesterday and the clutch works great but the carbs leaked and flooded every where.
Top secret HA/GR sighting at the Indy World of Wheels. Rolled it off the car hauler, fired it up and raced it inside to get out of the cold. Walked the distance and it was about 1/4 mile and Uncle Cletus clocked it on the ol stop watch at about 11.5 seconds...
Otis felt like if the surface had been dry and he had been givin the chance to put the rest of them ther blue plug wires on ( he only had 5 hooked up when she lit) he could have done better !!! Talked to Jackie Howerton today ( Indy Sprint Car Legand and fabricator, also Hindsmans old cl***mate) he is offering a Waffle Steak T Bone to anyone beating Hiney !!
Hey Mr. Mac Don't you eat your steaks med. well?
Damn right I do,and I just love T Bone especially coming from Howerton.
Just because the builders forum has been dead for the last couple days thought i would do another update. The Indy World of Wheels car show was great. Tom Culberson and the Indy Road Rockets had their own area for the traditonal pre 1962 cars to display. The area was one huge room with no ropes stations of any kind. 70 cars filled the room and the action was lively each day and night. The crowds loved the open walk up and touch atmosphere!!! Even though i had to work i did get out friday evening and sunday afternoon and evening. The other times lindross was there with the cars and the dragster. I printed up a couple hundred copies of the HA/GR rules and lots of folks talked to us about the car. Hopefully there will be a couple more cars coiming out of Indianapolis. The car is back at the shop now and we just placed it today where we can put the finihsing touches on it. A couple little things to do and its finished. I need to change out the front sping bolts with some grade eight fastners just for some added safety. ( 8 bolts) The carbs ( although i did rebuild them) leak and overflow fuel from one or more vent tubes and the accel pumps dont squirt good at all. I have another pair coming off the hamb board and will pick my best pair from the group. My vintage ignition is a Mallory Rev Pol and uses a split primary coil winding and uses two circuits with two points and two condensors to alternate twin coil primary firing events. I ran it on the distributor machine and it works great. The problem is i havent tried to hook up a tach to it yet. May be a problem??? I dont know what rpm to expect out of the engine although i expect it to be a little higher than normal with the roller lifters and roller camshaft. I really will need 6000 plus for the 4:86 gear ratio and the 29.5 tall tires. The GMC's dont really like much more than 6000-6500 max and prefer 5500 or so. Will need a couple test drives to get a final figure on this. I need to properly align the front axle, as i can tell from just pushing the car around it needs some adjustment. The axle fights itself because of tons of caster and the tow is incorrect. My clutch petal is too high causing me to raise my leg up in the ****pit and i need to shorten the petal arm to allow my foot and leg to get down lower in the car. Car is very comfortable with a fat man seat of over 18 inchs wide. Gas petal needs a heal support built in for comfort as well. I figure these rides need to be a comfortable to drive as possible. Especially for us older fat guys. Anyway shes looking good and i cant wait until summer to get some track time . Remember guys we are feeding all you for dinner Friday evening at my place and Sat night at Culbertsons Customs . Just bring your cars eat and enjoy the night air. Hopefulley this year it will be dry air.
Is this bounty just for indy or does it apply at all tracks if only at indy will be for evryone who beats Hiney or just the first one A bounty on the Hornet I love it Jackie could be buying lots of steaks
The bounty would be for the first one to break his " World Record" time and mph. I think others have beaten him in a race but to my knowledge no one has beat his time and mph. Is this correct guys ??? Pretty cool with the ausies involved we now have a "International Record" to contend with. I will supply a traveling trophy and bring it to the Joplin event.
The Hornet has 4runs with a average of 107.22 5 runs in the 12.40 the best is 12.42 the worst 12.49 we have a 151 trips down 1/4 mile not counting the squirts behind the shop I belive that is more than the other 3 teams combined we have had 3 differnt intake and exhaust manifolds all of whichare homemade which proves us old men have a lot of time on our hands The Hornet Ramrods / the Red Baron Dave Lewis new GMCHA?GR were on display at Starbirds today and getting lots of attention
You guys are killing me. I have soooo much work to do yet. Please let me know how your tach hook-up to the Rev Pol works out, I have an old dual point conversion plate I want to run and also want to use a primary hook-up tach I have.
