Happy Birthday, Bud, if you're listening. I really enjoyed the years that you ran R&C.

Bud and Jake worked feverishly on the mating of the flat bottom '29 body and the '32 frame. Jake whittled out a neat hard wood 'shim' that filled the gap, was painted black enamel to match body/frame final color, "Willie Black"...
I admired some hardwood going back into a classic Ford...after all, it was born with 'some'. My '27 Highboy received a pair of the same.
I had true ammunition with those R&C articles, and would demonstrate the 'right way' to customers that contracted me to 'help' with their projects.
I was already a 'traditionalist', it was hammered into me by members of the famous Hernando's Racing Team, of which I was an 'honorary' at age 13...
So, I knew what was 'right': Bud and company merely underlined it!
Thanks, Bud, Jake, Gray, Bob Jones...and Julian.
BTW: I met Bob at the Antique Drags in 1977, (?) he drove the roadster in, rear quarters/trunk were black primer. Talked with him for a while, drooled over pure hot rod perfection!
And...Pat Ganahl was giving 'em hell out on the strip with Grandpa's Chevy sedan...

I was married in June of '68, in Sept.of '69 I was invited to join Uncle Sam's fun club and that was followed up by a free vacation to a semi-tropical location in the Far East and did not leave the club until Sept. Of '70 at which time I returned to my former home. Fortunately my wife kept all of the R&C issues that chronicled the build of Bud's roadster.
In about 1973 I started work on my '29 roadster. Due to moves, different jobs and not a lot of extra money it never got on the road until 1999.

It is not like Bud's car but is a full fendered roadster and has a later Ford motor,******* and rear end. It is not fancy at all but still provides miles of smiles all these years later

Bud, if you are reading this, thanks for the inspiration!

Happy Birthday Bud! I've still got all those issues of R&C with the Roadster build. Bob
