Technical Buddy of mine has a smok'in 383 Shivel-lay...

  1. Shivel-lay is meant to be derogatory by some people,,,,especially Ford people .
    But,,,,6Sally6 is a good ole boy from south of the Mason / Dixon line .
    Kind of just a normal phonetic pronunciation really,,,,LoL .
    However,,,,he’s also a Ford guy,,,,,so you never really know for sure,,,,LoL .

    It doesn’t matter,,,,I like him anyway !
    And besides,,,,there’s no telling what he calls my Mopars ,,,,LoL .

    Which Edelbrock heads does he have? The E tech or vortec type heads are machined for both center bolt and perimeter style covers. The problem is that if you use perimeter style covers they leak through the lower bolts due to half the sealing surface being cut away just like in Bchctybobs picture. The oil weeps up through the threads on the bolts. I have found that putting a glob of silicone around the head in the area where it is cut away before installing the gasket and putting a small amount of silicone on the bolt threads cures it. I am not impressed with the way they chose to machine the valve cover sealing surface.
